How to register GOV.UA and EDU.UA domains
In Ukraine, there are two special domain zones that can be registered only through the zone administrator and by a specific procedure.
These are GOV.UA and EDU.UA domains. The first one is intended for governmental institutions of Ukraine, and the second — for higher education institutions. The official registration rules are available at www.gov.ua and www.edu.ua.
To obtain such a domain, you need to fill out an official request letter according to the template and send it to the domain zone administrator. In addition to the standard documents, you will also need:
- Create a UANIC contact if you don’t already have one. You can do this on the administrator’s website — https://hostmaster.ua/uanic/.
- Specify NIC.UA as the technical contact — use
NIC-UANIC
.
You will also need NIC.UA name servers, which you can order at: https://nic.ua/en/domains/nameservers.
Pick up a domain name you always dreamed of
The first three months of DNS service are free, so you can order them in advance — even before sending the registration request letter.
When contacting the administrator, you will need to provide the following list of NIC.UA name servers:
- ns10.uadns.com
- ns11.uadns.com
- ns12.uadns.com
After that, there will be no technical obstacles to registering your domain.
Once your domain is registered, you can also add it to your NIC.UA account to manage it conveniently through your dashboard instead of sending emails to the domain administrator. This service is paid, but it significantly increases the convenience of managing your domain. To add a domain to your account, simply contact our support team.
