What are IDN domains and can I register one at NIC.UA?
IDN (Internationalized Domain Names) are domain names that include characters from non-Latin alphabets, such as Cyrillic, Chinese, or Arabic.
For example, domains like ник.укр or ник.com.ua are IDNs.
These domains allow you to have a simple and memorable web address written in your native language. Today, most domain zones support IDN registration — just type your desired name into the search field, and you’ll see all available domains in zones that support IDN.
Pick up a domain name you always dreamed of
⚠ Please note: in Ukrainian domain zones (except .УКР), there is a mandatory requirement for the presence of unique Cyrillic characters in the domain name. This rule prevents the registration of domain names that look identical to existing Latin-based ones. An up-to-date list of such symbols can be found on the official website of the domain zone administrator.
