In 2012, the number of domains in Azerbaijan increased by 1.4 thousand names.

According to the administrator of the Azerbaijani *.AZ domain (www.whois.az), since the beginning of the year, 3.2 thousand new domain names have been registered in the .AZ domain, and 1.7 thousand domains have been deleted.

Currently, there are 14.5 thousand domains registered in the domain, of which 13.5 thousand are in the .AZ domain zone.

Other popular domains are .COM.AZ (629 domain names), .EDU.AZ (145 domains), .ORG.AZ (84 domains), .NET.AZ (55 domains), .INT.AZ (44 domains), .PP.AZ (42 domains), .CO.AZ (36 domains), .INFO.AZ (23 domains), .BIZ.AZ (14 domains), .NAME.AZ (5 domains), .PRO.AZ (4 domains).

Until 2009, the number of domain names in the .AZ domain zone increased by 2,000 annually, but in 2010 this number grew by 3,000 new domains, and in 2011 – by 4,300 domain names.
