The sunrise period for the .SO domain zone in the Republic of Somalia will begin on November 1 and last until the end of the month. The country's authorities decided to open registration for this domain zone back in April 2009, but open registration will only begin on March 1, 2011.

The Sunrise period is intended for brand owners and registered trademarks who want to obtain a domain name in the .SO zone.

Next, domains will be available for registration through an auction on Pool.com. This process will run from December 1st to December 15th. During the Sunrise Period, domains can be registered for a minimum of three years and a maximum of ten years.

The next Landrush period will run from December 16th to February 9th, 2011. Domains will also be available for auction from February 10th to 28th. During this period, all domain names can be registered for terms of one to ten years.

Domain names in the .SO zone must be at least three characters long and no more than 63 characters (excluding the extension). The domain registration policy in this zone is quite liberal, and registration is available to anyone without any restrictions.
