13 new domains on NIC.UA

To make naming your service or project even easier and more enjoyable, we've added a whole host of new domains to NIC.UA. Now we'd like to tell you a little about each one.

.PW is the country code top-level domain of the Republic of Palau.

The Republic of Palau is an island nation in the Philippine Sea. As is often the case, the domain is primarily used by people who are not Palau residents. The .PW domain does not even host websites for Palauan administrative agencies, including the government.

Free registration of these domains opened quite recently, in 2013, and this domain is positioned as a network for professionals – the “professional web”.

.BZ is the country code top-level domain of Belize.

Belize is a country in Central America. Until 1973, this country was called British Honduras. For many years, the British Empire and Spain fought over the territory. The former name suggests who won that struggle. Now, Belize is an independent territory.

.BZ is most often used as a domain for hosting business websites due to its similarity to the .BIZ domain.

.PRO — a domain for professionals

The .PRO domain was launched in June 2004. In the initial years of registration, only representatives of four professions were eligible: doctors, lawyers, engineers, and accountants. Moreover, the domain could only be activated by providing the registrar with a license to conduct their activities. In 2008, the list of professionals permitted to register names in the .PRO domain was expanded. Later, the list of documents required to obtain the domain was also expanded. This could include an educational diploma, a company charter, or some other document reflecting the registrant's type of activity.

.XXX is the domain for adult industry participants.

Technically, the .XXX domain is only available for registration to representatives of the adult industry who have an Adult Industry Community ID. But the good news is that joining this community is very easy.

The creators of the .XXX domain intended it to contain only adult content. This way, you can understand what kind of site it is even before you visit it. Also, sites in the .XXX domain are more frequently checked for pirated content and malware.

.SX is the country code top-level domain of Sint Maarten.

The small island nation of Sint Maarten is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Few would have spoken about it if the .SX domain hadn't appeared in 2010. Its similarity to the word "sex" made it popular among the internet community. Anyone can register such a domain.

.NU is the country code top-level domain of Niue Island.

The island is located in the South Pacific Ocean, in Polynesia. The domain has been registered since 1997. The word "nu" translates as "now" in Swedish, Danish, and Dutch languages; in French, "nu" means "naked." It is also often played off as "new" due to its similar sound.

.NL is the country code top-level domain of the Netherlands.

The .NL domain was registered on April 25, 1986, making it the first registered national top-level domain. Interestingly, registration of these domains was free for the first ten years.

Currently, .NL is one of the five most popular ccTLDs and ninth among all gTLDs.

.ASIA is the domain of Asian countries.

The idea of ​​creating the .ASIA domain was first proposed in 2000, but registrations only began seven years later. The main obstacle to launching the domain was the lack of a decision on who would manage and control it. A special advisory board was created for this purpose.

It's also interesting that the profits generated by the .ASIA domain are used to develop the telecommunications industry in Asian countries, including technological assistance to poor countries, educational programs, and so on.

.US is the country code top-level domain of the United States.

.ME is the country code top-level domain of Montenegro.

.CC is the country code top-level domain of the Cocos Islands.

A group of 27 small coral islands located in the Indian Ocean, they also have a charming flag featuring a moon, stars, and a palm tree. Residents and organizations from any country can register these domains.

.CC domains can be used as an alternative to .COM or .CO. .CC can stand for Commercial Company, Closed Company, Country Club, or Community College. Basically, there's plenty of scope for customization.

.WS is the country code top-level domain of Samoa.

Samoa is an independent nation located on the Pacific Ocean. The domain is very popular internationally because its spelling coincides with the abbreviation "Web Site" or "Web Studio."
