320,000 Vietnamese-language IDN domains have been registered since April.

The administrator of the Vietnamese domain (VNNIC) announced that nearly 320 thousand new Vietnamese-language domain names (IDNs) have been registered since April this year, the start date for free registration of domains in national languages.

The company claims that the interest in national domains is driven by the fact that many residents of the country are reluctant to use national domains due to their limited English skills. In remote regions of the country, users, especially, prefer to use Vietnamese.

During the first stage, which lasted from January 10 to April 27, 2011, domain owners in the .VN domain could register their domains, and after April 28, registration became available to everyone.

It was previously reported that in the first three days the domain had100,000 IDN names have been registered.
