9 million names are registered in the .ORG domain.

PIR, the administrator of the ORG domain, announced on March 2 that the number of domain names in the zone had exceeded 9 million. Last year, the number of domain names in .ORG grew by 10.3%.

The ORG domain zone ranks fifth after .COM (approximately 93 million domains), the German DE (which has 14 million domains), the NET domain (12 million), and the British UK (9.2 million), and is also one of the three largest generic top-level domains. VerySign, which maintains top-level domains such as .COM, .NET, and others, announced that the number of domain names registered in all TLDs has reached 205 million.

This is the first time in five years that such an increase in the number of .ORG domains has been recorded, as according to the Dashboard report, there were only 3.9 million domains in 2005.

Brian Cute, CEO of PIR, believes that 9 million registrations are a tribute to ORG's reputation and its contribution to the online community. The ORG. zone is chosen by organizations, companies, and individuals when they want to focus their efforts on community development.
