Amazon believes the company does not violate Apple's trademark.

Amazon has denied Apple's accusations that it illegally used the word "appstore" in its store name. As a reminder,Apple filed a lawsuitto the largest online store on this matter at the end of March.

Amazon believes the word "appstore" is a generic term and therefore cannot be used by any individual company for any purpose.

The reason for the lawsuit was the opening of the "Amazon appstore" by Amazon.

What's also interesting about this story is that Apple's patent for the App Store is now being grantedis being contested in courtby Microsoft Corporation. This statement was filed back in June 2010.
