Apple, Microsoft, and Google accused of patent infringement

American company NTP has filed a lawsuit against Apple, Google, HTC, LG, Microsoft and Motorola, accusing the defendants of illegally using their own developments related to the transmission of emails over wireless networks.

NTP accuses the defendants of producing devices with wireless communications modules or email software that infringe eight of NTP's patents.

NTP holds approximately 50 patents related to wireless communications. From time to time, the company finds another "victim"—a company that allegedly infringes its patents and files a lawsuit against it.

For example, in 2000, as a result of such a court hearing, NTP received more than half a billion dollars from Blackberry manufacturer RIM.
