Arrest for domain theft

A man accused of stealing a .com domain has been arrested in New Jersey. The man, Daniel Goncalves, is accused of stealing and selling the P2P.com domain.

The P2P.com domain was first purchased in 2005 by entrepreneur Mark Ostrovsky, Albert Engel, and his wife Leslie for $160,000. Daniel Gonzalez hacked Engel's email account, obtained the domain details, and re-registered it in his name.

To cover up the evidence of his crime, Gonzalez falsified PayPal records to make it appear he had purchased the domain name from Angel.

A year later, in 2006, Gonzalez listed the P2P.com domain name for sale on eBay for $111,000.
