The Ukrainian Internet audience has grown by 1.5 million.

In 2009, the Ukrainian Internet audience grew by more than 1.5 million, according to GfK Ukraine. Internet penetration in the country at the end of 2009 was 27-30%. Experts expect explosive growth in the audience to reach 50% of the country's population in the near future. Next year, experts predict, will be a year of rapid internet growth in Ukraine.

Next year, the audience will grow primarily due to mobile internet users. Volya representatives noted that their subscriber base growth had already decreased in 2009 compared to 2008.

In addition, the increase in the number of Internet users in the future will occur due to home networks.

In 2009, the average Ukrainian spent about 6.5 hours online per month (recall that the average American spends about 13 hours online each month). A year earlier, this figure was about 3 hours per month.

Experts also note that the proportion of active Internet users has been increasing in recent years.
