Kodak auction to be extended
It has been announced that Kodak's patent auction will be extended. This is necessary to allow for further negotiations with companies interested in purchasing the company's patents. The exact completion date of the auction is currently unknown.
Kodak is currently undergoing pre-emptive bankruptcy proceedings. To resolve its problems, the company planned to sell its patent portfolio, raising $2 billion. However, the amounts offered by potential buyers are currently much lower.
Apple previously sued Kodak, attempting to seize several of the company's patents. Kodak accused Apple of attempting to sabotage the sale of its patents.
Analysts note that if an auction were to take place, the value of Kodak's patents could increase several times.
