Free training: the IT Generation project
Applications are now being accepted for free training for Ukrainians as part of the IT Generation program. The project is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Binance Charity, and the Lviv IT Cluster.

A pilot educational project called IT Generation was launched on August 8. As part of the project, Ukrainians will be able to take courses in various tech and non-tech fields and begin working in IT.
The pilot project is being overseen by representatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Binance Charity, and the Lviv IT Cluster. The project is organized within the framework of two programs:
- “Competitive Economy of Ukraine” (USAID programs);
- “Digital, Inclusive, Accessible: Supporting the Digitalization of Public Services in Ukraine” (implemented by UNDP Ukraine with support from Sweden).
Who can become a participant in the program?
Ukrainian citizens aged 21 to 60 with no relevant education or experience in IT. Proficiency in English at a minimum level of B1 is required.

Duration of training
From 2 to 6 months.
When can I register?
Applications for participation in the program can be submitted within 14 days, starting from August 8.
How to apply?
- Go to the IT Generation website, select an IT school and program.
- Register on the Binance platform.
- Pass verification (you need to get a Binance Account ID).
- Go to the school website and apply to participate in the educational project.
How many people will be able to participate in the pilot project?
Based on the selection results, the first group of Ukrainians (approximately 1,000 people) will be able to begin studying IT professions.
What specialties do they teach?
The list of available professions includes the most popular IT fields:
- FrontEnd;
- QA;
- Java, Python;
- Project/Product Management;
- Digital Marketing.
Who will teach and how?
Representatives of 23 IT schools participating in the project (they select candidates). These are top schools operating in Ukraine and collaborating with businesses.
All courses include working with teachers and mentors, completing homework assignments, and developing projects.
How do schools recruit students?
Once a person has completed KYC verification and received a Binance Account ID, their application is assessed by IT school specialists. They review the applicant's profile and conduct preliminary testing (the specific testing varies by school).
If the applicant's application is approved, they will receive funds from Binance Charity to cover the cost of the training course.
Great interest in the project
According to Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Alexander Bornyakov, the official website of the IT Generation project had been visited by more than 64,000 people at the time of the program's launch.
Currently, there are approximately 30,000 applications submitted. Front-end is the most in-demand specialty.
IT-Generation pilot course
The IT-Generation project's first training course is being implemented in partnership with Binance Charity. The company will allocate approximately $1 million to train approximately 1,000 people.
The cost of tuition per student was calculated based on an analysis of open data. It turned out that the average cost of a course is approximately $1,000.
The government next plans to launch a national project that will allow several thousand Ukrainians to obtain the new specialty. According to O. Bornyakov, this is planned to happen in the near future—in a month or a month and a half.
Is employment guaranteed upon completion of studies?
The training will be conducted by schools that partner with businesses, so the quality and specificity of the teaching will be appropriate. This means that the course programs are designed to provide students with the maximum skills and knowledge, giving them a high chance of finding employment in their field.
According to Alexander Bornyakov, before the war, some schools had a graduate employment rate of up to 40%.
Register on Binance
The stated age of project participants is up to 60 years old. Many are concerned that the verification process may be more difficult for older people, simply because they lack the same level of digital literacy as younger generations.
But verification on Binance is a must: every exchange requires it.
There's nothing complicated about it. To register, you need to:
- carefully(!) enter your personal information (in Latin);
- download
- send a selfie taken in real time in accordance with a number of requirements (not allowed).
According to the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, all applicants can access call center consultants if needed.
There are also detailed instructions, including videos. For example, the Binance Ukraine YouTube channel provides detailed information on how to complete KYC verification on the Binance platform.
How Binance Supports Ukraine
As previously mentioned, the IT Generation pilot educational program is being launched with the support of the Binance blockchain ecosystem. The company is actively developing charitable projects.
A special division, the Binance Charity Foundation (BCF), has been created for this purpose. One of its areas of focus is humanitarian projects.
BCF provides funding for student education, incubation grants from Binance Labs, and more.
Crypto crowdfunding
Binance and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have a long-standing partnership. The leading global crypto exchange has become one of Ukraine's largest sponsors.
Even before the full-scale war began, at the end of 2020, they jointly released an educational series about Bitcoin.
Immediately following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Binance Charity launched a special project. The Emergency Relief Fund was created to provide emergency aid to Ukraine through crypto crowdfunding.
$10 million in donations
On February 27, 2022, the world's largest crypto exchange announced on its official Twitter account that it was donating $10 million to major intergovernmental organizations and local NGOs so they could provide emergency aid to Ukrainian refugees and children.
Cryptocards for Ukrainian refugees
Binance has issued special crypto cards for refugees in Europe to use for financial aid. The crypto exchange has allocated a corresponding budget for this purpose: 75 BUSD are credited to the card monthly. The payment period is three months.
Assistance to IDPs
Binance also supports internally displaced persons. IDPs can receive financial assistance of $75 per person for three months. Ukrainians affected by the war can apply for cash payments through charitable foundations in Kyiv and Lviv.
Digital for freedom
Binance will soon join the Digital for Freedom project. Essentially, this is a "digital lend-lease" for the development of Ukrainian projects.
The Digital for Freedom program was presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano, Switzerland. The idea is to unite major companies to build and advance Ukraine's digital development.
According to Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Development, Amazon has already joined the Ukrainian digitalization project. It is expected to provide cloud hosting for Ukrainian state registries worth over $100 million.
When does the next state stage start?
According to the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution, funds for financing are available in the reserve fund. The document states that more than 100 million UAH will be spent on training Ukrainians.
Another resolution is currently being prepared, which will outline the funding allocation regulations for the new phase of the project. It's worth noting that many schools, according to Alexander Bortnyakov, have promised discounts of 20-30%.
