Over 100 registrars are ready to participate in the New gTLD program.

ICANN announced that more than 100 registrars have applied to participate in the ICANN Top-Level Domain Name System (TLDNS) project.

After March 29, ICANN will announce the final list of registrars that will begin working with the new top-level domain name system.

Registration of domain zones under the New gTLD program is planned to begin on April 12, with the registrar being able to register up to 50 domain zones on behalf of the client.

As a reminder, the initial registration cost for a top-level domain is $185,000, and annual domain renewal will cost $25,000.

An application for a top-level domain is expected to go through the following stages: Administrative Check, Initial Evaluation, Extended Evaluation, String Contention, Dispute Resolution, and Pre-delegation. This process will take approximately nine months. During this time, ICANN plans to manually review each application.
