Bulgaria votes for Cyrillic domain

Bulgarian authorities have launched a vote among internet users to determine the Cyrillic domain name. The vote began on the website of the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.

Bulgaria has long expressed interest in a Cyrillic domain, but has not yet submitted an application to ICANN to register a Bulgarian Cyrillic domain.

Among the options offered by the country's authorities to internet users for voting are the Cyrillic domain names ".БГР" or ".България." Furthermore, residents of the country can submit their own version, which must meet several requirements: the name must consist of at least two letters, at least one of which must be graphically distinct from Latin letters and distinct from previously registered and existing root domain zones.
