Most websites are in the .cn zone

The Chinese domain zone has become the first among national domain zones (ccTLDs). The Chinese domain .cn has overtaken the German domain zone, which has led the list of national domain zones since 2001.

Currently, there are 13.7 million domain names registered in the Chinese domain zone. This domain zone surpassed the 10 million mark in January 2008, reached 12 million in June, and surpassed 14 million in February 2009. The number of .cn domains then began to decline, but thanks to recent growth, the Chinese domain has once again become the leader.

According to data from CNNIC, the administrator of the Chinese domain zone, there are 13.7 million names registered there, while the German domain has 13.3 million names. The UK domain ranks third with 8 million names.
