There are already 750,000 national domains in the Czech Republic.

On January 6, the 750,000th domain name was registered in the Czech Republic's national domain, CZ. The last 50,000 names were registered since August 2010, while in previous months, the average number of domain names registered in .CZ was 10,000. This increase is due to a simplified registration system and lower costs.

In the fall of 2010, internet users rejected a proposal to lift restrictions on the registration of internationalized domain names (IDNs) with national characters in the .CZ domain. 87% of organizations and 62% of individual users expressed their opposition. However, not all users who registered .CZ domain names were Czech citizens.

Many Czech domain names are occupied by Germans – there are over 8,000 Czech domains out of 4,800 registered domains. Slovakia is second with 3,500 registered domains out of 6,000 domains. The Americans are third with 1,600 registered domains out of 5,000 domains. Russia ranks only 18th, with 263 .CZ domains out of 151 registered domains.
