In December, the KZ zone recorded a record number of registrations.

In December 2009, according to PROFIT Online, 1,624 applications for domain registration in the .kz zone were submitted to the Kazakh Network Information Center (KazNIC).

Thanks to this, December became a record month for the .kz domain zone.

Experts say one of the reasons for this surge is the newly opened opportunity to register domain names in Cyrillic.

Of the 1,624 domain registration applications, 1,297 were for Latin-script domains, and another 327 were submitted for Cyrillic domain names.

Among the popular Cyrillic domains in the .kz zone, applications were submitted for the following names: subscriber.kz, autozapchasti.kz, automobile.kz, apteka.kz, vodka.kz, gadget.kz, gas.kz, wheels.kz, commerce.kz, components.kz, upholstered furniture.kz, and beer.kz.
