The case regarding competition between registrars in the .РФ domain has been postponed.

At the end of last week, on December 16, 2010, a meeting of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) was held regarding violations that occurred during registrations in the .РФ domain zone.

The defendants in the case were .РФ domain registrars, which registered approximately 50% of all .РФ domains. Among them were: ANO Regional Network Information Center, ZAO Regional Network Information Center (trademark RU-CENTER), OOO RELCOM.DELOVAYA SET, ZAO Demos-Internet, ZAO Registrar, and ZAO Elvis-Telecom.

During the hearing, Elena Gertseva, a lawyer for RU-CENTER, stated that, in addition to registering domains in accordance with the rules for registering domain names in the .РФ domain, RU-CENTER acted as a regular client of other registrars and registered domain names in the .РФ domain for itself.

According to the rules of the Coordination Center Council from September 30, 2010, even a won auction did not allow the registrant to become the full owner of the domain name.

The representative of the Coordination Center asked the FAS to consider all the facts and arguments presented and to confiscate the illegally obtained funds for the benefit of the state.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service decided to postpone the consideration of the case until the third ten days of January.
