Internet revenue in Ukraine has grown by a third in 11 months.

According to data from the State Statistics Committee, for the first 11 months of 2009, revenue from providing Internet access services increased by more than a third – by 39.4% and reached UAH 2.58 billion.

Revenue from providing services to the population increased by 70.8% and amounted to UAH 1.4 billion. In the first 11 months of 2009, the total revenue of enterprises from providing communications services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 42.074 billion.

One of the main reasons for this growth is the still-low broadband internet penetration in Ukraine—only 10.2%. Furthermore, during the crisis, people began cutting back on entertainment and staying home more often, opting for online entertainment.
