The emergence of the Cyrillic domain zone has become a major milestone for the Russian Internet market.

Priority registration for government agencies and trademarks began back in November of last year. The first websites with Russian-language addresses appeared in May 2010. Open domain registration began on November 11, with more than 500,000 registered in the first week.

Currently, the number of domains in .РФ is approaching 680,000, and the domain has already entered the top twenty largest in the world.
