The .RU domain ranked fourth in the world among national domains.

According to the Coordination Center for TLD RU, based on registration results in August, the .RU domain surpassed the European Union (.EU) and Chinese (.CN) domains in absolute numbers of registered names. This placed the .RU domain fourth in the ranking of national domains.

The growth rate of the .RU domain registrations in August was the highest in both relative and absolute terms.

As of the end of August, more than 3.4 million domain names were registered in the .RU domain. The Russian domain lags behind the national domains of Germany (more than 14.5 million names), the United Kingdom (more than 9.6 million), and the Netherlands (more than 4.6 million).

The number of domains in .RU increased by 1.3% in August. Meanwhile, the number of domains in German (.de) national domains increased by 0.2%, the UK (.uk) by 0.7%, and the Netherlands (.nl) by 0.48%.
