The Gay.xxx domain was sold for half a million dollars.

The domain name Gay.xxx was sold for $500,000, making it the most expensive domain in the .XXX domain zone.

The deal was concluded through the Founders Program. The domain was purchased by Liberty Media Holdings, a publishing company that produces publications for LGBTQ+ individuals.

The site available on Gay.XXX is not yet operational.

The .XXX domain is currently undergoing a sunrise period, during which trademark and brand owners can reclaim their domain names for $200. Furthermore, the domain administrator, ICM Registry, has blocked more than 4,000 domain names associated with famous people.

The Founders Program offers premium domain names. Around 1,500 domains have been sold to 35 companies through this program, with nine of them selling for over $100,000.
