The RU domain has surpassed the three million mark.
At the end of last week, the Russian domain .RU crossed the three million mark.
Currently, the domain administrator, Ru-Center, is unable to identify the owner of the anniversary domain. This is impossible for technical reasons. However, the company plans to announce the exact registration time for the three-millionth anniversary domain in the coming days.
The day before, the domain saw a surge in registration activity. One reason for this activity was the approach of International Internet Day, celebrated in Russia on September 30.
On the eve of the anniversary domain registration, five thousand names were registered on the RuNet in one day. This is five times more than on a typical day, when the average number of domains registered in the .RU zone is just over a thousand. However, the excitement was less intense than before the previous anniversary registration, when two million domains were registered on the RuNet. As a reminder, the two million registration milestone was reached on March 22, 2009.
