The poltava.ua and pl.ua domains are being updated and EPP is being launched
The main goal of the update is to achieve higher quality of domain name service. It will also ensure registration, administration, and technical support at par with global standards. As a reminder, the geographic public domain poltava.ua was delegated in 1992, and the pl.ua domain in 1997. Together, they comprise approximately 6,000 third-level domain names. This data update aims to reduce the number of domain names registered in these zones by eliminating those that are currently unused for various reasons.
At the same time, these domains will transition to the new EPP protocol, which is how registrars interact with the domain name registry. The introduction of this protocol for Poltava domains is a kind of experiment, as these will be the first domains in the country to switch to the EPP protocol. This experiment will examine the administrative processes for domain name registration. Once completed, the protocol will be rolled out to other public domains in Ukraine.
To ensure proper domain information updating, new domain name registrations in Poltava-based domains will be suspended from November 21 to 23 of this year. Beginning November 23, new domain name registrations and existing domain name maintenance will be handled exclusively through registrars. Information on registrars that support the new EPP protocol can be found on hostmaster.ua. Detailed information for registrants regarding domain name updating will also be available on the website. All registrants will also receive detailed instructions via email regarding the new rules.
