There are 3.5 million domain names registered in the .RU domain.

On October 18, 2011, the Russian national domain .RU surpassed the mark of 3.5 million registered domain names.

In August of this year, the Russian domain was in fourth place among national top-level domains (ccTLDs), ahead of the Chinese (.CN) and European Union (.EU) domains.

By the end of September, the 900,000th domain name was registered in the Russian .РФ domain—a milestone reached 11 months after registration began. This places the .РФ domain fifteenth in the ranking of European national top-level domains.

The first million domain names in the .RU zone were reached 14 years after its launch – in 2007.
