20% of websites in the .РФ domain will not be renewed.

Analysts expect that approximately 20% of websites in the .РФ domain will not be renewed, out of a total of 950,000 registered resources.

This was stated by Alexey Korolyuk, a member of the Registrar's Committee, at a press conference of the Coordination Council of the National Internet Domain (CC).

However, Russian domain market analysts are confident that most domains will eventually be taken. On average, about 15% of domain names in domain zones are not renewed.

The release of unrenewed domains will take a long time – approximately 10,000 domain names are removed from the registry every day.

An error occurred when releasing domains that were not renewed for the next term: during the mass release of names, it turned out that the first registrar of a domain receives notification of its release first and has more opportunities to register it again.

The coordination center and registrars worked on this issue for about two weeks, but in early January, the .РФ domain experienced an outage that was only resolved on January 11th.

Currently, analysts estimate that registrants are buying back no more than a quarter of unrenewed names.
