Brazil's domain has three million registered names.

At the end of July, it was announced that 3 million domain names had been registered in the Brasilia domain. This made the Brazilian national domain the seventh-largest national domain by number of registrations.

The .BR domain administrator, the Network Information and Coordination Center, stated that most Brazilians choose the national domain to host their websites. Furthermore, the number of .BR domain names has increased following the implementation of DNSSEC and the creation of a number of special second-level domains (.B.BR for banks, .JUS.BR for law firms, and .LEG.BR for the government).

The leader among national domains by number of registrations is the German domain .DE (15.1 million active names), in second place is the Tokelau domain .TK (10.5 million), in third place is the UK domain .UK (10.2 million).
