There are 500,000 names in the .UA domain!
In 2010, the .UA domain surpassed the half-million mark. The 500,000th domain, a-parfumes.kiev.ua, was registered on February 5, 2010, by DNS-Ukraine using the RRP protocol.
The top-level country code domain .UA was delegated in December 1992 by Jonathan Postel (IANA) to leading Ukrainian internet experts elected by the internet community: Oleh Voloshchuk and Igor Sviridov. Since March 2001, some administrative authority has been transferred to Hostmaster, which has been maintaining .UA for nearly nine years. Currently, domain name registrations on Uanet are carried out in 55 public domains – 7 target and 48 geographic.
Recent trends in the global domain registration market indicate that internet users are increasingly choosing national domains when choosing domain names. The .UA domain is no exception, with registrations growing by 23.93% in 2010. Data on domain name registration dynamics for 2007-2009 is shown in Diagram 1.
