The number of registered names in the .MOBI domain zone has exceeded 1 million.

This domain zone is intended for websites optimized for use on mobile devices.

Interestingly, this is the second time the .MOBI domain has surpassed the million mark. The domain administrator first reported a million domains in September 2008. However, the number of domains quickly dropped to 900,000.

The domain was approved by ICANN in July 2005.
