There are 100,000 names registered in the .PRO domain zone.
Seven years after the start of registrations, the number of registrations in the PRO licensed specialists domain reached 100 thousand.
When PRO launched in 2004, it became the most accessible and valuable domain in the professional services industry and elsewhere on the internet. Anyone with a license to provide services or conduct business can apply for the .PRO domain.
In 2008, new rules regarding domain registration came into effect. Previously, only lawyers, accountants, engineers, and doctors from four countries could register for this domain. After the new rules were introduced, representatives of over a thousand professions from various countries were able to register.
Specialists can register second-level domains and third-level domains in second-level subdomains (e.g., law.pro, med.pro, etc.) that match their names or trademarks.
According to ICANN data, .PRO is one of the six gTLDs that experienced stable growth throughout 2010. For example, .PRO grew 133% in November 2010. It currently ranks sixth among gTLDs.
