The administrator of the .CO domain, .CO Internet SAS, announced that the number of domain names registered there has exceeded one million. This milestone was reached ahead of schedule.

.СО Internet SAS became the administrator of the .СО domain zone in early 2010. Free registration of .СО domains began in the middle of last year.

Initially, the domain was positioned as the national Colombian domain, and its administrator was the Colombian University of the Andes (Universidad de los Andes). Later, the domain rights were transferred to the Colombian Ministry of Communications, which selected the current administrator, .СО Internet SAS.

She immediately took measures to combat cybersquatters, began working with a limited number of registrars, usually large and reputable ones, and also established certain rules.

Thus, .CO domain names have become popular as an alternative to .COM domains, most of which are already taken. Several major deals involving .CO domains have already occurred.
