Domain disputes are being automated

Domain name disputes will now be resolved automatically and electronically. To this end, the World Intellectual Property Organization's Arbitration and Mediation Center has created a paperless procedure for disputes filed under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP).The new procedure will improve the efficiency of the dispute resolution mechanism and reduce the time it takes to resolve them.

This simplified and more efficient procedure will become mandatory starting March 1, 2010. However, according to a statement from ICANN, domain name registrars can already begin accepting electronic submissions for domain disputes.

Documents required for the consideration of domain disputes can be sent electronically via email.

The rules of the World Intellectual Property Organization list the requirements for the formats of such documents.
