The .RU and .РФ domain zones will be separated

Russia plans to legislate against duplicating websites in the .RU domain with websites in the .РФ domain. This legislative ban will protect owners of existing domains from having their names hijacked.

These plans were announced by Mikhail Yakushev, Chairman of the Coordination Center for TLD RU. The legislative initiative for such a ban was voiced by several experts at the First Russian Internet Governance Forum.

However, precise legislative provisions regarding the prohibition of website duplication have not yet been written down or defined. This initiative exists only as an idea.

As a reminder, last week the first websites with Cyrillic domains launched on the RuNet. Among them were "president.RF" and "government.RF."
