The .ME domain turns three years old

On July 17, Montenegro's national domain .ME celebrated its third anniversary. Since its inception, the domain has practically transformed from a national domain to a general-purpose domain due to its similarity to the English word "me," meaning "my" or "myself." It has become popular worldwide.

Currently, over 530,000 domain names are registered in the .ME domain in 200 countries. The domain is most actively used by registrants from the United States, accounting for 52.92% of all .ME domain registrants. Furthermore, 7.7% of .ME domain registrants live in the United Kingdom, 3.82% in Germany, 3.81% in Canada, and 3.63% in Japan.

Many companies register their domains in .ME. Among them is the Russian social networkVKontakte network, the social network Facebook once won a dispute regarding the domainFacebook.me, Google bought the domainPlus.me.
