.РФ domains will be available to citizens of other countries

On November 11, 2011, new rules for registering domains in the .RU and .РФ zones came into force.

According to the new rules, domain name registrations in the .RU and .РФ zones will be linked to a mobile phone number—delegation of rights to the received name will be carried out exclusively by sending a confirmation SMS message.

Furthermore, citizens of any country can now register Russian domains, and any transactions can be carried out on previously registered domains, including selling, changing the administrator, and so on. This means that the domain is now the full private property of its owner, free to dispose of it as they see fit.

The new rules apply to domains registered after November 11, 2011.

Let us recall that a year ago, on November 11, 2010, free registration of names was opened in the .РФ zone.
