.XXX domains are not recognized by Internet services and applications

ICM Registry, the administrator of the .XXX domain zone, has announced that not all applications and online services support the use of the .XXX domain, and in the future, other domains in new gTLDs.

The company's specialists analyzed the display and use of such links.

For example, if you enter a link in the .XXX domain in a Skype chat window, the program will not automatically create a hyperlink in the same way as if you enter an address in the .COM domain.

When using the Twitter client TweetDeck, the program also fails to create hyperlinks. The study's authors also noted that apps often fail to shorten links even when the http:// prefix is ​​manually entered.

ICANN previously warned in its New gTLD Applicant Guidebook that even after an application is approved and registrations begin in new gTLDs, there is no guarantee that such domains will immediately begin full operation.
