Domains can be registered in 23 languages in Europe.
Starting from December 10, EU residents were able to register domain names in the .eu zone in the official languages of 23 EU countries, including Cyrillic.
The new rules provide for the possibility of registering names in the European domain zone that use the special characters "à", "ą", "ä", "ψ", "ñ", "ç", that is, those that are not in the standard Latin alphabet.
In the first hour after this rule was introduced, more than 38,000 domain names of the new type were registered. The first ten domains to use special characters were as follows:

2. börse.eu
3. flüge.eu
4. bücher.eu
5. ferienhäuser.eu
6. reisebüro.eu
7. büro.eu
8. küche.eu
9. müller.eu
10. öl.eu
According to a representative of the European Commission, the aim of these changes was to preserve the linguistic diversity of the EU. However, the European Commission recommends registering websites in two languages – the national language and English.
