Europe's largest data center opens

The largest data center in Europe has opened in the UK. The NGD Europe data center is located in Newport, South Wales. The data center covers approximately 70,000 square meters and can accommodate over 19,000 server racks.

The investment in creating this data center exceeds $301 million. This data center is almost a quarter larger than the largest one that currently exists in Europe.

The data center's first major clients were British telecoms operators BT and Logica. The annual cost of colocation services for these companies will exceed £20 million.

The data center is equipped with its own substation with a total capacity of 90 megavolt-amperes. This substation can power a city with a population of over 400,000.

The data center was built with multiple security perimeters that utilize infrared and biometric scanning systems.
