Facebook is interested in buying Opera Software.

It has become known that the social network Facebook is interested in acquiring the developer of the Opera browser, the Norwegian company Opera Software.

The companies are currently negotiating. Facebook's interest in the browser will allow the company to better compete with Google and Microsoft, which have their own browsers. Furthermore, Opera is the developer of Opera Mini, one of the most popular mobile browsers, which is also important for Facebook, as CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently called the mobile market both important and risky for the company.

At this point, the companies have not officially commented on the negotiations themselves. However, Opera has reportedly stopped hiring, which may be indirect confirmation of ongoing negotiations.

As a reminder, Facebook recently made another major acquisition, buying for $1 billion. Experts note that Opera could be worth less than $500 million.
