File hosting service "Akado" will cease to exist on June 1.

File storage services are disappearing en masse on the RuNet. The online service "Akado.Files" will be shut down on June 1st. The site's administration reports that this is not related to any claims from law enforcement agencies or copyright holders.

The company claims the service's closure is due to optimization of the Akado services' business model. However, it's possible the company is playing it safe. This year alone has seen several high-profile cases involving the hosting of user content. The Torrents.ru domain delegation was suspended, and the iFolder and Filehoster file hosting services were shut down.
