The FBI has shut down websites selling pirated Android apps.

The FBI has shut down three websites distributing pirated Android apps. The websites shut down were applanet.net, appbucket.net, and snappzmarket.com. The FBI's announcement stated that this is the first time websites selling illegal copies of mobile apps have been shut down. The shut down websites posted an FBI notice suspending their domain name delegation due to copyright violations.

To conduct the operation, FBI agents downloaded a large number of popular Android apps. These apps will be used as evidence in the subsequent trial.

The servers hosting the pirated software were located outside the United States. To shut down the websites, American intelligence agencies conducted a joint operation with intelligence agencies from other countries, including specialists from the Netherlands and France.
