Football club Zenit has not renewed its registration for the fc-zenit.ru domain.

Zenit Football Club has not renewed the domain name fc-zenit.ru, which previously belonged to the club. The website now displays a message stating that the domain name fc-zenit.ru has expired.

Ru-Center estimated the likely value of this domain on the secondary market at $100.

The team's press service stated that the website would resume operation within a few hours. Domain owners often forget to renew their registrations. Once the outstanding balance is paid, the registrar will transfer the domain to the previous owner. Zenit Football Club may lose its domain if the outstanding balance exceeds a month.

A year ago, the Malina bonus program's domain registration expired, but the company managed to get it back within 24 hours. In January 2009, the Ural Transport Prosecutor's Office lost the ural-trans-prok.ru domain, but prosecutors also managed to immediately get theirs back. Meanwhile, the Chelyabinsk airport lost the rights to the aeroport74.ru domain in 2008. They failed to get it back on time, and the domain was sold at auction for a four-digit sum.

Ru-Center representative Victoria Bunchuk cites the lack of IT departments in many companies and government agencies as the reason for this inattention.
