The main Ukrainian domain
On December 1, 1992, exactly one year after the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was confirmed in the all-Ukrainian referendum, .UA, the top-level domain for Ukraine, was born.
Currently, .UA has approximately 16,100 second-level domains (compared to over 87,000 domains in .BY and over 4,700,000 in .RU). This small number is due to the fact that a .UA domain can only be registered with a trademark.
We expect that in the near future, after all the necessary reforms in the Ukrainian domain are completed, free registration of .UA without trademarks will open. You can already todayleave a free requestfor preliminary registration of .UA domains without a trademark and .УКР domains.
Until 2001, the .UA domain was maintained by an informal association of Ukrainian specialists, the UA NCG (Ukrainian Network Coordination Group), led by the legendary Boris Mostovoy. On February 21, 2001, the UA NCG decided to create Hostmaster LLC, which maintains the Ukrainian domain to this day.

- Registration of second-level domains in .UA was opened on October 2, 2001.
- On October 23, 2001, the first private second-level domain, BUSINESS.UA, was delegated, and a little over two years later the thousandth private domain was registered.
- On December 2, 2011, theDNSSEC key generation ceremonyfor the .UA domain, and a year later, in April 2012, DNSSEC wasofficially implemented into the domain.
