Global statistics of the Ukrainian Internet for December 2009

In December, there was an increase in the number of Ukrainian internet users – by 16.79% compared to November. The total number amounted to15309902unique users per month.

No significant changes were observed in the geographic distribution of users. As before, the Kyiv region leads the way, accounting for 58.81% of the total audience, while the Volyn and Zhytomyr regions had the least activity, with only 0.10% and 0.15%, respectively, and the Chernivtsi region with 0.27%. Next, in descending order, come such large regions as Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Lviv, Crimea, and Zaporizhzhia. Their combined share is 30.43%. The remaining regions accounted for 10.24%.

Among the search engines from which Ukrainian audiences navigated to Ukrainian websites, Google was the leader, accounting for 74.97% of all visits. Next came Yandex (18.27%), ukr.net (2.10%), mail.ru (1.79%), and live.com (0.74%).

The most popular search queries among users: weather, car market, ukr.net, weather in Kyiv, news.

MS Windows XP remains the most used operating system among Ukrainians, with 75.3% of users choosing it.
