Gmail is back under its own name in the UK.

In the UK, Google has been granted permission to use the name of its email service, Gmail. This was previously impossible because a UK resident owned a trademark of the same name. Google has launched its email service in the UK under the name Googlemail.

A dispute with copyright holders has been ongoing in the country since 2005. Now, users can obtain email addresses under the gmail.com domain. Residents can transfer their addresses from the previous googlemail.com domain. Registration of new names with the email service will immediately be processed under the new domain.
