GoDaddy Opposes Controversial SOPA Bill

GoDaddy, one of the world's largest domain registrars, has spoken out against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). The company sent its official statement to several international publications.

In explaining their decision, GoDaddy representatives said the bill fails to strike a balance between the companies interested in its adoption and the internet community.

Let us recall that GoDaddy had previously spoken out in favor of the adoption of the bill, which led toloss of more than 70 thousand clients, who wished to transfer their domains to other registrars.

GoDaddy's management expressed regret for the loss of customers and expressed hope to restore relationships with them and its good name in the eyes of the online community.

There were also attempts to transfer domains from GoDaddy to other registrarslinked to scandal- the company resisted this in every possible way, for example, by providing incorrect service information about such domains.

The controversial SOPA bill included overly harsh measures against copyright infringers, specifically requiring search engines to remove pirated sites from search results or restrict access to the resource by ISPs.
