Google continues to buy patents

Google has acquired another batch of patents. In 2011, Google announced the purchase of over a thousand patents from IBM. This time, the company acquired 187 patents and 36 patent applications.

This time, the issue concerns patents owned by IBM. These patents are related to social networking technologies. Specifically, they will allow Google to develop its own projects in this area, such as its social network.

The acquired patents describe so-called semantic networks.

Particularly important among the acquired patents is patent number 7,865,592, which describes the operating principles of social networks. Specifically, the patent describes a communications network that connects people with shared interests.

Google also acquired patents describing universal web applications.

Google has repeatedly accused its main market competitors of using fictitious patents with the help of which the companies want to slow down the development of the Android mobile operating system.
