Google acquired the Quickoffice office suite.

Google has made its latest acquisition – the mobile office suite Quickoffice.

Quickoffice is available for Android, iOS, and Symbian mobile platforms. According to the company, Quickoffice is installed on over 300 million devices in 180 countries. The Pro version starts at $14.99.

Google has its own online office editor, Google Docs, which is integrated with the recently launched Google Drive service.

Google's main competitors in the mobile platform market – Apple and Microsoft – have their own office mobile applications – mobile versions of the iWork and Microsoft Office packages.

With the new acquisition, the company will be able to enhance its suite of solutions for working with office documents on mobile devices. QuickOffice allows users to view, edit, and create Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files on mobile devices.
