Google violated a patent in the name of a smartphone.

Google has been accused of infringing a patent on the name Nexus One, the name Google used for its smartphone unveiled this week.

Isa Dick Hackett, daughter of American science fiction writer Philip K. Dick, has filed a lawsuit against Google. She claims Google borrowed the idea for its smartphone's name from the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", which was later used in Ridley Scott's film "Blade Runner."

The word "nexus" was used in the novel and film as a name for android robot models. Isa Dick Hackett claims that Google used the name "Nexus One" because the company's mobile operating system was named Android.

Google considers Isa Dick Hackett's claims to be far-fetched and unfounded, emphasizing that the author has not trademarked the titles from her novel, so they are free to be used by anyone. Nevertheless, Philip K. Dick's heirs plan to file a lawsuit.
